Electrolysis is a method of long term hair removal for the face and body. A very fine electrically charged needle is inserted into the hair follicle before the hair is removed with a pair of tweezers. There are generally few to no side effects and the majority of your body can be treated with electrolysis including your face, abdomen, legs and thighs.

As the electrically charged needle is inserted into the hair follicle it should destroy the root of the hair, making it unable to grow back. As electrolysis targets the hair follicle rather than pigment, electrolysis can be used on any skin type and hair colour. Compared with any other method of hair removal, electrolysis has the best results for long term and lasting results. Even if you are not a good candidate for laser, electrolysis is a great option.

Electrolysis hair removal requires multiple sessions to achieve the best results. In some cases it may take up to 2 years to clear an area of hair. You will need to attend appointments every 10 to 14 days. This is because hair grows in different stages: growing, resting and shedding. As all the hair is not at the same stage at any one time, multiple sessions are needed. For electrolysis to work, the hair needs to be in the growing phase which is the same for IPL or laser hair removal.

It is important not to pluck, wax or thread between treatments although trimming with sharp scissors is an option. You will need to adhere to the professional aftercare advice given to achieve the best possible results.
